Designated the “Godfather of Punk”, Iggy Pop started his career in 1967 as the vocalist and lyricist of influential proto-punk band The Stooges. In the early years, The Stooges gained a reputation for their confrontational performances, and primitive style of rock n’ roll. Throughout Pop’s career, he has been well known for his outrageous and unpredictable stage antics, which included popularizing stage-diving, poetic lyrics, and deep distinctive voice.
To this day, he has remained both a culture icon and a significant influence on a wide range of musicians in numerous genres, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010.
